[For a moment, Ignis truly debates continuing to dodge, then he removes his sunglasses and rubs at his face with a sigh.]

I would think that much would be obvious by now.

[Wait a minute! He still didn't answer the original question!]

[I mean, if you're leaving it up to him, he's going to assume yes on all counts. Ignis has at no point said no? It's quite an Akielon sensibility, ducking around fact like this. Laurent has no idea why Damen doesn't seem to like Ignis.

The blonde mulls over his response for a while.]

You should get him tipsy. He might admit something.

[The real operative is ‘drunk as he's never been before’, but you know, he shouldn't advocate the shit he does out of an unwillingness to admit his alcohol tolerance. ]

That rather difficult to do when he neither eats nor drinks. He says he can't taste it.

[Well, there was that one night. Ignis' own memories of it are fuzzier than he would like to admit to, but hadn't Ardyn gotten as drunk as he had off what Muffet brought?]

Magical food and drink might be an option, but there is a rather limited supply of that.

-really? That sounds like a particularly miserable existence.

[This is news to him. He still jumps quickly to a rather uncomfortable conclusion, though.]

Mm, Damianos has had many lovers. He might have a better idea. He's very helpful most of the time.

[Laurent’s only template has been Damen himself, which is quite evident by how he's approaching this thing. So. If you don't want to put your tsundere in a dangerous high-pressure environment and hope the constant threat of death squeezes something out of him, what can you do????]

[Ignis huffs softly then and shakes his head.]

I'm not certain that's a good idea. I don't think your beloved much cares for me. He reacted quite oddly when I mentioned having helped to heal Maribelle once. I'm still not sure why he reacted that way. You obviously care a great deal about her. Why wouldn't I have healed her since it was within my abilities?

He’s your sort; everyone likes him. Everyone likes you.

[He absolutely thought they would get along like chums and once again, Damen goes around ruining his expectations. This isn't even important enough, you didn't need to do that Damen.]

He seemed...

[Ignis pauses a moment, uncertain what word to use. After all, he's only talked to Damen once and it wasn't under the most ideal circumstances.]

I guess the best way to put it is that he seemed uncomfortable. Of course, I find it hard to blame him for that. Our conversation happened during the storytelling round where something was displaying our memories instead of just letting us talk. No one likes strangers seeing something so personal.

[And there was certainly no other reason at all. Nope.]

[That’s- December, right? Around the time Damen had come, against all odds, back to him. Laurent doesn't remember if he’d been particularly upset over anything, certainly the whole month in general had been a flurry of adjusting Damen to things. He can't think of any other reason. Jealousy is even more implausible here than with Islander. He's going to be so annoyed when he finds out.

Still, that won't do. Laurent doesn't like relying on Ignis’ goodwill or his own reputation with the man, which, let's be real, won't last forever. And Damen needs to eat. Damen needs this connection and he doesn't have an eye for this kind of things. ]

He arrived that month, so it must just be an adjustment issue. Our world has no such thing as magic, you see.

[It’s not dramatically different but this is Laurent’s earnest voice?]

I hope you won't hold anything against him, he really is a good man. It must have been some kind of mistake.

[That night had been awkward for them all. He can't imagine how much more it must have been for someone so newly arrived.]

I've merely kept my distance as so not to make him more uncomfortable on the off chance I did do something that bothered him. If it will help, you are welcome to let him know I hold no ill will toward him. I'm happy to help either of you whenever the need may arise.

[ Hello there, Ignis! It's ya girl here to knock on your door. ]

[Hello? New door. Who dis?

Okay, so not really, though oddly enough the first thing to greet Mira as the door is pulled back is not Ignis but the curious gaze of a rapidly growing firebird.]

Whoever it is, please don't set them on fire, Rory.

[Well, at least that slightly not at all concerning comment proves that Ignis, is in fact, home.]

[ Oh, no, she's so cute! ]

I do believe if you set me on fire, Rory, Ignis would be quite unhappy.

[shatteredlenses]

Ignis will be very unhappy. There is no question about that.

[A soft, familiar chuckle comes from behind the door and then Ignis appears, scooping up Rory and settling her onto his shoulder. Volatile firebird dealt with, he gives Mira a warm smile.]

To what do I owe this pleasure? Was there something you needed, my dear?

[encircling]

No, actually. I brought something for you.

[ She bounces--actually bounces--on her heels a little bit as she pulls a package out of her bag. ]

A while ago, a large number of seeds came into my possession. I have been growing them, and while some of them require more time, the herbs have been growing beautifully.

I brought you the first of what I have already harvested. Basil, thyme, oregano, rosemary, mint, and cilantro. I thought you would be happy to have them.

You...

[Oh, forget words! Ignis moves forward to wrap his arms tightly around her, careful to avoid knocking the package from her grip.]

You wondrous creature! You really brought all this for me?

[He seems...pleased.]

[encircling]

[ She laughs softly, quietly, shifting the package so she can hug him back. ]

I did, truly. [ And Mira sounds absolutely ecstatic that he's happy. ] The only thing I require is that you make me at least one meal with these. And once they have grown, I shall have fruits and vegetables for you, too.

Only one? Darling, I'll make you as many as you want!

[Were it not dangerous with him being blind and the step they are standing on not being all that sturdy, Ignis would pick her up and spin her around in his joy. As it is, he settles for the safer course of giving her another squeeze.]

It's going to be so delightful to season with something other than salt and to use something other than coconut as the side to a dish!

[ She smiles and leans up, pressing a light kiss to his cheek. ]

Goodness, I should have done this sooner if it was going to make you so happy, Ignis.

[shatteredlenses]

Ah...

[Oh dear, that kiss was unexpected. He flushes slightly, though his smile remains strong as he recovers.]

How can I be anything but happy when I have family who is willing to do such wonderful things for me?

[ It's been... a hell of a time, as of late. Between Bliss and everything, Noctis hasn't had time to really rest. He's feeling restless, mind racing with a million subjects and things he needs to talk about. He has a few people he needs to talk about, too.

Ignis is at the top of that list. He seeks him out in the afternoon, and he clears his throat lightly. ]

Hey, Iggy, do you have time to talk?

[encircling]

[ She drops back onto her feet, letting out the quietest laugh. ]

You've a point. But, you know, you have done more than enough for us. At least... I can speak for myself in that regard, for certain.

[shatteredlenses]

Hello Noct. Do you even need to ask? I always have time for you.

[Ignis looks up from the dish he's working on, smile on his face as it so often is when his prin--no, king now--is around. There's a tiredness underlying that smile though, also showing through in the way his hands work just a little slower than usual over the food he's making. Truth is, he hasn't had much sleep since waking from traveling through Bliss' dream fantasy worlds. It doesn't matter that he awoke late on the 17th feeling as if almost all his life had been drained from him, his mind has been too busy to care, and, as it has been all his life, his mind has overruled his body.]

I can't quite manage a pie yet, but I figure I should be able to create something sweet out of these apricots we found. We all deserve a little treat after that battle. Are you hungry?

[ If he's picked up anything from his time up in space, it's how to read people even better. He catches the way Ignis moves slower, the tired way he smiles, and he knows it's because of what they'd all been through just days ago. It pulls at his heart, squeezing, and Noctis wishes he could reach inside and scoop out all the hurt, take it from Ignis and scatter it to the winds.

... But this will have to be enough. ]

Yeah, I'm always hungry. Do you want any help? I've gotten pretty good in the kitchen over the past year.

[A slim eyebrow arches up over Ignis' sunglasses.]

Trying to put me out of a job, are you? Well, I suppose that is better than when you used to burn water.

[His hands stop their work for a moment as he considers Noctis' offer and then he shakes his head.]

I'm still learning to do this all again. I believe it for the best if there is only only one pair of hands in the cooking area. I would never forgive myself were I to cause you harm. However, as my current taste tester isn't around, I do seem to have an opening for one. Lucky for you, the only qualification is that said person is hungry.
